Sonya holds a BSW in Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University and a B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Toronto. With over 28 years of experience working with diverse populations, she has developed a deep understanding of the complexities of human relationships and self-identity.

Sonya specializes in helping individuals and couples navigate the conscious and unconscious thought patterns that shape how they relate to others and view themselves. Her work focuses on addressing faulty assumptions, fostering self-identity development, grieving losses, and setting healthy boundaries. She has expertise in supporting clients dealing with narcissism and toxic relationships, childhood trauma with the goal focusing on self-identity, self-confidence and worth. Sonya works with couples to resolve and heal their relationships and supports those facing the challenges of separation and divorce, helping them find clarity and healing during transitional periods.

Guided by anti-oppressive and inclusive values, Sonya creates a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, seen, heard, and accepted. Her sessions are built on understanding and collaboration, allowing her clients to explore difficult topics with compassion and curiosity. Sonya primarily works from a trauma-informed, narrative perspective, inviting clients to share their stories while offering insights to help them uncover their inner strength and self-compassion. She also integrates techniques from various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, and Attachment Theory, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s unique needs.
